‘ Laryngectomy Club ‘ For The Laryngeal Cancer Survivors
Kolkata, 28th May, 2019: Narayana Super speciality Hospital, Howrah Officially Announced the Launch of their ‘Laryngectomy Club' today for the Laryngectomy cancer patients of Film-maker Shiboprasad Mukhapadhya and Nandita Roy , Laryngectomy patients and team head Neck surgeons of NSH – DR. Sourav Datta , Dr. Harsh Dhar and Dr.Apurva Garg.
The Laryngectomy club which was lunched today was a novel indicative of the Narayana Super speciality Hospital, Howrah Talking inspiration from the recently released movie ‘Konttho' . The primary aim of forming the club is to provide patient with a platform for social engagement and rehabilitation, the main focus being post Laryngectomy speech. One of the main motives of the club is to provide subsidy in treatment to the Underprivileged cancer Survivors. The services can be availed by everyone on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
Speaking on the occasion , Laryngectomy cancer survivor Mr . Ananthakrishan is a core member of the club said, ‘ as a Laryngectomy survivor, i feel this indicative will go a long way in providing the much needed support for all who have suffer this disease. ‘
 Narayana’s consultant head and neck surgeon Mr Harsh Dhar said, “Laryngectomy survivor face a unique challenge in being unable to speak and communicate after surgery, it takes time for the patient to adopt and came back to normal life. Other survivors are the best people who can guide each other."

Talented Director Mr.Shiboprisad Mukhopadhya speaking on the occasion that, ‘ The Laryngectomy club is a great initiative of Narayana super speciality hospital, we are happy that through our movie konttho , we are able to provide a strong social message and insight into the journey of a cancer survivors of his or her family.’

Vinci Da completes a Thrilling Half-"
Kolkata, Saturday 1st June 2019- National Winning Director, Srijit Mukherji's super hit Film Vinci Da Completed 50 successful days at box Office Today.
The film had released across India on 12th April 2019 amidst a lot of excitement and garnered a very warm responses., , witness multiple housefull show across theatres. Vinci da entered its eight week completing 50 days at the box office.
With Vinci Da, Srijit Mukherji returned to the genre that is a ‘ numero- uno' in, crime thrill revolving around an obsessed make up artist Vinci Da (Rudranil ghosh) ,who's straggling to make his own place in todays industry, completely on his own talent and capabilities. Although his father was re nowned make up artist. Somehow he failed to show his talent and got no chance to make something even though he was highly talented. His arrogance and straightforward ness resulted into him to insulting own self which made him worse. When his life was going haywire Aadi Bose (Ritwik Chakraborty) a serial killer entered his life and changed it.
For this milestone achievement Director Srijit Mukherji revels his word,” Vinci Da got a Stupendous response at the box office from day one and since it has been grow and i' m happy to see people still running to theatres to watch the film .it is a Big win for bengali cinema.
Directed by Srijit Mukherji the film also stars Sohini Sarkar, Anirban Bhattacharya and music composed by Anupam Roy.

Vinci Da completes 50 days on 1st June.

'Beware of Tobacco'


Tobacco consumption in India is alarmingly high and the country is the second highest tobacco consumer. Tobacco Free West Bengal organized a media sensitization meet to urge the State Government and the youth of the State to implement COTPA Regulations more stringently and arrest the rising tobacco epidemic.

 Dr. Mahfuz Ariff, MD, Radiotherapy (in-charge), Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute, who was present at the occasion, said, “Tobacco consumption is fatal. It is gaining alarming pace in West Bengal. Let us be responsible and make our future generation healthy”.

Mr. Indranil Dasgupta, Programme Manager, Tomorrow’s Foundation comments on the occasion, “Tobacco consumption is one of the most fatal habits of the nation. It is the leading cause of preventable death. The objective of our campaign is to sensitise State Government officials on the COTPA Regulations and ensure proper enforcement of it. In this regard, we also urge the youth of the State to come forward and support us in our cause.”

According to GATS 2 (Global Adult Tobacco Survey) report published in 2016 – 2017, India has the second the largest number of tobacco users in the world, with 28.6% population consuming tobacco in all forms. Tobacco causes approximately 1.3 million deaths in the country. West Bengal has alarmingly high number of tobacco consumers.

 Percentage of adults exposed to secondhand smoke at Home is 56.1%. Percentage of adults exposed to secondhand smoke at Workplace is 57.5%. 5.4% women in the state continue Tobacco use during their pregnancy term. 9.6% of the state’s population is exposed to smoking by age 15, 19.8% get addicted within 18-19 years, 53.8% get addicted by 20-34 yrs.

According to a report published in 2011 by Ministry of Health; Family Welfare, Government of India in collaboration with WHO India and Public Health Foundation of India on the economic burden related to health issues caused by tobacco, the economic burden of West Bengal was Rs 3,440 crores. Economic burden of West Bengal due to cancer, respiratory disease and TB was Rs 1,332 crores due to tobacco consumption.

We can therefore conclude, a large sum of money is being spent on the treatment of tobacco related diseases and hence consumption of tobacco needs to be arrested.

Obesity and particularly morbid obesity can be a real curse which might not respond to conservative management by medication and lifestyle modification only. Bariatric surgery often acts as an effective tool to provide with long term weight loss and helps in increasing the quality of health. His yearning to lead his earlier life made him seek medical help desperately and had consulted more than a dozen consultants in Kolkata and South India who had advised Bariatric surgery, however, he chose Ruby General Hospital. He then consulted Dr. Sumanta Dey (Consultant Advanced Laparoscopic, Bariatric and GI Surgeon) at Ruby OPD for a couple of times. Since, he had been super obese, the surgery was a challenging one especially with so many associated comorbidities. The approach had been multidisciplinary and the entire team of # Retake : Ruby Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Department opined that this Bariatric surgery was not only a weight reduction option, but a life saving measure. The team counseled and motivated Mr. Kaushik Chatterjee and his family members accordingly.

Subsequently, Mr. Chatterjee had been admitted under the care of Dr. Sumanta Dey (Consultant Laparoscopic, Bariatric and Metabolic Surgeon). Opinions of Dr. Anirban Deb (Consultant Pulmonologist), Dr. Soumya Mukherjee (Consultant Haematologist), Dr. Tanmoy Majee (Consultant Cardiologist) and Anaethesiology team (Dr. Dwaipayan Jha, Dr. Ratul Kundu) had also been taken. The bariatric surgery had been performed laparoscopically on 20/05/2019 and the duration of surgery had been around 2 hours. This surgery had been life saving and life changing for Mr. Chatterjee, giving him a second chance in living the reality of his dream life. Mr. Kaushik Chatterjee is looking forward towards leading his earlier life and his positive attitude has made him all the more determined. As Mr. Kaushik said to the hospital Bariatric Counselor, “I would like to thank God for giving me a second chance to go back to my previous life and I would utilize this opportunity to spread the age old message among todays youth that Health is really the most precious Wealth”.

 'Nritya Katha Dance Festival' was organised by 'Nupur Nikkan Dance Academy' on 21st May eve at ICCR.


     This wonderful dance program witnessed a bouquet of wonderful performances from a string of talented dancers.


     'Hello Kolkata Emerging Dance Choreographer Award' was also presented to the great choreographer Sumit Das, Chief of 'Nupur Nikkan Dance Academy' for his continued brilliance.

"Travel Tales: Bengal on Wheels” by Reetwika Banerjee "



Renowned author & international record-holder Reetwika Banerjee had lit up 'Literoma Carnival'- a Literary Talent Show with the launch of her innovative trip diary titled “Travel Tales: Bengal on Wheels”.

    The gala ceremony took place on 12th May evening at a posh boutique hotel in Kolkata.

      “Travel Tales: Bengal on Wheels” by Reetwika Banerjee comprises of twenty off-beat destinations across different districts of West Bengal talking about their forgotten past, local folk-lores, unknown legends, heritage and haunted stories surrounding these unpopular places.

   Appealing photographs of those edifices taken by the author herself adds the perfect blend to let readers enjoy a visual expedition. The book cover of a century old incomplete mosque speaks a lot about the intriguing contents of the book.

 Reetwika said, “I chose to pen my trip diary in English and not in Bengali so that global readers too will get a taste of the hidden wonders of Bengal. With the success of the book, definitely going ahead it would also boost Bengal tourism at the same time glorify the heritage aspect of the incidents mentioned in the book.”

  The city girl has dedicated her first trip diary to the Mother of Bengal, our honourable Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Bandyopadhyay.

"ROMJANER OI ROJAR SHESHE”  & “AKHRI RAMZAN E ROZA” by  SHUSMITA ANIS of Bangladesh"



Popular singer from Bangladesh Shusmita Anis is going to release the songs “Akhri Ramzan ERoza” and “Romjaner Oi Rojar Sheshe” on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr in two languages. The song is written by Kazi Nazrul Islam which is translated in Urdu by prominent lyricist Srijato Bandyopadhyay. Kazi Nazrul Islam wrote “Romjaner Oi Rojar Sheshe” marking the religious and joyous festival of the Muslims, Eid-ul-Fitr and this song is an essential part for Eid festival of Bengali Muslims. 

Unlike Bollywood movies, the music release for Eid had long been absent in Kolkata and Northern India. The initial response of the songs are extremely encouraging.

The music of this song is newly arranged by Adit.

Singer Shusmita Anis said,“The songs are already released in various digital platforms in India, Middle East and Bangladesh in audio and video format. This is my humble effort to present NazrulSangeet in contemporary sound for the listeners on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.”

Hello Kolkata Cultural Fusion' took place on 11th May eve at  Birla Planetarium Hall. The Guest of Honour for the eve was Sri Kunal Ghosh, ex-MP and eminent intellectual. Special guests included Sudip Bose, Chandan Das, Dr. Sujata Chatterjee, Sikha Roy, Lipika Sen Chatterjee, Dr. Arun Kumar & others. A host of achievers from various fields were felicitated during Socio-Cultural Awards Ceremony, presented by a NGO.

Launch of Poster of 'CHHAU 2' and Cultural Fiesta by Raj Dynamic


On 18th May, Raj Dynamic Media & Entertainment Creation (India) Pvt. Ltd. had organized a cultural program at KG Memorial Hall, Sealdah to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima.

   The program witnessed the launch of poster of  ‘CHHAU 2’, a Bengali feature film releasing all over Bengal on 31st May.  Dr. Arun Kumar Raj, Producer of ‘CHHAU 2’ and owner of Raj Dynamic, informed that ‘Chhau 2’ is presented by Raj Dynamic and White Horse Picture.

  The film is directed by Biswajit Ghosh & Prosenjit Ghosh. Music & song is by Madhu Sarkar & Sailen Dey.

The cast include Piya Sengupta, Jimmy Das, Prosenjit Dey,  Arnab Sen, Sidhu Saptarshi, Mou Saha, Parno Chowdhury and Puja Ganguly.

         The cultural program of the eve consisted of song, recitation etc. by several talented artists.

Karan Singh to win 'Most Promising Glam Icon'


Karan Singh of Orchid Film Production wins 'Hello Kolkata's Most Promising Glam Icon 2018'.  Karan Singh has been doing excellent work in individual level and also promotes others through his production house-Orchid Film Production (OFP).

Mrs India Globe 2019 Kolkata Audition was held with great zeal on 14th May eve at 10 Downing Street, Salt Lake Sector V.

   The hip-n-happening show was organised by East India Director Sofia Khan, supported by  Annie Jain of Annie's Creations.  Dress Designer of the Show was Karuna Deora.


 The  Grand Finale of Mrs India Globe 2019 will be held on 22nd June, 2019 at J.W Marriot in Dubai.     


   The esteemed Jury members of Kolkata audition included Payel Roy (Actress), Pulokita Ghosh (Actress), Arunima Dey (Director), Sudip Mukherjee (Producer), Tanveer Khan (Curator -The Dot Talks), Ashir Fazal (Social Activist) and Ankit Das. The Showstopper for the evening was Lopamudra Mondal.

    Mrs India Globe 2019 is not only a Beauty Pageant but it is a great recognition to appreciate the talents of a married women, informed Sofia Khan, the Organizing Spokesperson.

         



Geetika's "Kavi Pranam"


On 11th May at Indumati Sabhagriho, Jadavpur, “Kabi Pranam" was celebrated with great fan-fare by 'Geetika College of Dance and Music', a popular cultural training centre.

   Honourable guest artists included renowned Rabindra Sangeet exponents Anushila Basu, Debaroti Som, Debmalya Chattopadhyay, Moloy Roy, Deblina Bhattacharya and vocal artist Sonali Chattopadhyay.

   The audience were treated to a medley of songs and dances by a host of talented artists from 'Geetika' and other groups.

   The performing singers included Arpita Nandi, Shyamal Bhattacharya, Urmi Bhattacharya, Aneeta Chandra, Swasti Chatterjee, Monmon Banerjee, Sarika Sardar, Amrita Das, Nirupa Bhowmik, Subhas Sen, Sourav Ganguly, Arundhuti Chatterjee, Sahana Parveen, Sujata Saha, Abhranil Guha and Pinku Ghosh Dastidar.

    There were lively dance performances by Debopriya Bose, Taniya Bhattacharya, Priyanka Bose and her Troupe “Jaggoseni". 

  In chorus songs, there were popular groups like Kolabhrit, Ramyani, Sonajhuri and Geetika College of Dance and Music.

    The musical hands of the program included Biswaranjan Nand (tabla), Soumendranath Dutta (Keyboard) and Rupam (percussion).

 Sound was managed by OCEAN AUDIO VISUAL..

The programme was well anchored by Anjan Chandra.
