Innomania Motion Pictures' wins '13th Hello Kolkata Short Films Fiesta'

Awards ceremony on 12th Aug. at KG Memorial Hall witnessed felicitation of the winners of 13th 'HELLO KOLKATA Short Films Fiesta' ('SHORT-SCOPE').  

    'One Last Time' (a short film based on love for parents) was declared the champion.

   'One Last Time' is presented by 'Innomania Motion Pictures', produced by Boby Mondal and directed by Jayashree Khara. 

      Reetwika Banerjee's silent film 'Black Rose' won Critics' Appreciation Award and Rajat Talukdar's two films - 'Maa' and 'Left Overs' got  'Special Mention'.

      Asish Basak, Editor-Director, 'Hello Kolkata' remarked that 'Hello Kolkata Short-Scope' is an apt platform to motivate upcoming talented film-makers. The film festival also aims to disseminate social awareness through the riveting topics of the various films.

After the power-packed season of Indian Idol 10, Sony Entertainment Television is back with another

Govt. of Punjab announces Seed Potato Traceability and Certification Program

To protect the interest of the Punjab farmers and uphold the state’s leadership position/image as the largest potato seed producing state, the Department of Agriculture and Welfare, Government of Punjab will soon undertake certification and traceability of seed potato to ensure optimum transparency. This initiative comes in the wake of unscrupulous elements indulging in malpractice of aggregating seed potato from other states and mis-branding the same as Punjab Potato seed. This has led to the loss of market for Punjab farmers at national and international level. In this regard, Punjab Agri-Export Corporation (PAGREXCO) will be appointed as the outsourcing agency for undertaking traceability based seed potato certification through IT software/module.

   To achieve the twin objective of traceability & transparency in the potato seed certification program, PAGREXCO would get the traceability work done through Agri-based IT portal. 

   To start with, the farmers’ data base will be digitized in addition to providing them access to technical know-how on crop planning and management, inputs, credit, post-harvest management, value addition, and improved market linkages. The centralized platform would also help to capture all relevant information through a simple mobile application and give dashboard based insights on the data captured thereby ensuring traceability of the entire value chain. Once implemented, this program is poised to become a game changer for seed potato growers as it is designed to increase profitability for the farmers and minimize risk through modern farming techniques.

Speaking on this Mr. Manjit Brar, Managing Director, Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Limited said, “Punjab produces about 27 lac metric ton of potatoes annually and supplies about 60-70% seed potato to the domestic & global markets. Our initiative has been designed with sole intention of protecting our farmers from further financial loss. We are confident that our concerted efforts coupled with the smart use of technology can successfully stop the miscreants from their devious intentions."

   In order to scale up this work as well as to protect the interest of small farmers of Punjab, PAGREXCO would undertake the activities pertaining to branding and certification of the seed potato of Punjab, forward linkages within India and abroad for marketing and sale of Punjab potato seed, set up a laboratory for potato seed sample testing, etc.

   Kolkata is the biggest potato seed buyer from Punjab.

   Punjab potato seed is unique in the sense that it’s completely disease free. They are produced in a region which is free from brown rot and ring rot, a type of quarantine disease which causes the rotting of tubers.

    Punjab Agricultural University has substantial evidence based on elaborate surveys that affirms the fact that Punjab Seed potato is produced in a region which is also free from potato tuber moth.

Lexus India had announced the third edition of the distinguished Lexus Design Award India (LDAI).  The Design competition serves as a platform for both, emerging and established designers and creators, whose works can lead to a better future for all. The annual event attracts creative talent from around India, who aspire to win the coveted award for innovative design excellence.

Making the world a better place through design has been the program’s purpose and the 2020 award continues the directive of “Design for a Better Tomorrow”. As was the case last year, entrants will need to demonstrate how their creative ideas express three key principles of the Lexus brand. Chief guest Chaitali Das, jute revivalist, Mrs International Classic 2018 and Fortune Most Power Women US State Department Alumna and guest of honour Amyt Datta, guitarist, composer, producer and mentor and Sidhu released the song at Topcat CCU on August 7 along with musicians Bodhisattwa Ghosh and Gaurab Chatterjee.

“Aami Haarte Raaji Noi” also brings together a bunch of musicians who are nothing less than a ‘dream rock band’- the kind that ruled the music scene in the late 90s and early 2000s, but hasn’t been heard, of late. The song has been arranged and produced by Bodhisattwa Ghosh, who has also performed guitar duties, while Aakash Ganguly is on bass, Gaurab Chatterjee on drums and Sudipto Paul is on keys.
